With the Category Manager you can create categories and sub-categories to structure and categorize elements like users, tickets, accounts, etc.
1. Categories
To get to the Category Manager please log in as "Portal Master."
- Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
- Then click Tools & Administration > Categories.
You get to the category overview where you find all elements to which you can assign categories and sub-categories.
1.1 Create new category
To create a new category, please do the following:
- Choose the element to which you want to add a category.
- Click the icon [+] Create new category.
Note: You can create the category in English and German at once.
- Enter in the field Name respectively the name of the category.
- Enter in the field Description respectively a description of the category.
- Activate in the column Preferred the preferred language.
- Click the button Save when ready.
You get back to the category overview. The new category is shown below the accordant element.
Note: The number in brackets shows the number of containing elements.

1.2 Add further category
The difference between creating a new and a further category is the positioning (above, below, sub-category) of the second category:
- Choose the element to which you want to add a further category.
- Click the icon [+] Create new category.
- Mark where you want to put the second category and choose the corresponding option:
- Add above selected category
- Add below selected category
- Add new sub-category
Note: You can create the category in English and German at once.
- Enter in the field Name respectively the name of the category.
- Enter in the field Description respectively a description of the category.
- Activate in the column Preferred the preferred language.
- Click the button Save when ready.
You get back to the category overview. The category is shown at the given position.
Note: The number in brackets shows the number of containing elements.

1.3 Add sub-category
A sub-category is a level below a category.
- Choose the element, which contains the category to which you want to add a sub-category.
- Click the icon [+] Create new category.
- Mark in the little window the category to which you want to assign the sub-category.
- Choose the corresponding option Add new sub-category.
Note: You can create the sub-category in English and German at once.
- Enter in the field Name respectively the name of the sub-category.
- Enter in the field Description respectively a description of the sub-category.
- Activate in the column Preferred the preferred language.
- Click the button Save when ready.
You get back to the category overview. The sub-category is shown at the given position.
Note: The number in brackets shows the number of containing elements.

1.4 Edit (sub-)category
To edit a (sub-)category, please do the following:
- Choose the (sub-)category you want to edit.
- Click the icon Edit on the right side of the table.
Note: You can edit both languages at once.
- Edit the (sub-)category as desired.
- Click the button Save when ready.
You get back to the category overview. The edited (sub-)category is shown below the corresponding element.

1.5 Move category
You can move a category inside the element upwards and downwards, you can switch it to a sub-category or assign it to another element.
- Click the tab Move.
- In the area Source mark the category you want to move.
- In the area Target mark the category to which you want move the first category.
- Choose the corresponding option:
- Add above selected category
- Add below selected category
- Add new sub-category
- Click the button Move when ready.
The categories change as given.

1.6 Delete (sub-)category
To delete a (sub-)category, please do the following:
- Choose the (sub-)category you want to delete.
- Click the icon Delete on the right side of the table.
- Confirm the erasing procedure by clicking the button OK.
You get back to the category overview. The deleted (sub-)category is not available any more.

2. Category settings
Here you define, which elements can be assigned to categories.
To get to the category settings, please log in as "Portal Master."
- Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
- Then click Tools & Administration > Categories.
- In the navigation on the left, below Categories click Category settings.
You get to the overview of the elements, which can get a category selection:
- Element Shows the element.
- Type Shows the category type.
- No selection The element gets no category selection.
- Simple selection Only one category selection possible.
- Multiple selection Several category selections possible.
To enable category selection, please do the following:
- Choose the element.
- Choose, which selection the element should get.
- Click the corresponding option.
- If required repeat this procedure for further elements.
- Click the button Save when ready.
