The SITEFORUM Menu Manager enables you to create and manage a comprehensive menu structure for your portal.

1. Overview
The entire menu structure is dynamically created and can be edited, moved and streamlined at any time.
If, for example, you want to change the name of a menu later, you do not have to update the entire content of the menu.
After creating a menu structure you can fill the menus with content by creating stories and assigning them to menus with the help of the
Story Manager.
Stories can be assigned to multiple menus, which means that you can publish one story to two different menus at the same time.
In get an overview you must be logged in as "Portal Manager" or "Content Manager."
- Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
- Then click Website & CMS > Menus.
The following list will appear:
- By clicking the arrows you can change the order of the main menu.
Attention: Changes here do not affect the order of the menu in the portal interface, but the structure of the menu while assigning stories to the menu. For changing the order of the main menu in the portal interface, q.v. 6. Change position of menu.
- Language Shows the standard language for the particular menu.
- Name Shows the name of the Menus.
Advice: Click on the name of the menu and you get a list of all the submenus in this particular menu.
- Stories Shows the quantity of stories in this menu.
- Submenus Shows the quantity of submenus in this menu.
- Edit By clicking the icon the menu can be edited, q.v. 3. Edit menu.
- Translation By clicking the icon the menu can be translated into multiple languages, q.v. 4. Translate menu.
- Move By clicking the icon the menu can be moved to another menu, q.v. 5. Move menu.
- Delete By clicking the icon the menu can be deleted, q.v. 7. Delete menu.

2. Add menu
2.1 Add main menu
To add a new main menu you must be logged in as "Portal Manager" or "Content Manager."
- Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
- Then click Website & CMS > Menus.
- Click Add main menu in the navigation on the left.
- Enter in the field Name the name of the menu.
- Choose from the selection box template a template on which the menu is based.
Advice: Multiple stories can be assigned to each menu. The display as well as the "list design" of these stories can be assigned by such an "intro template." Every menu must possess an assignment based on this model. To modify the design of this intro template, q. v. Tools & Administration > Design & Layout > Story Intro Template.
- In the area user group(s) choose the user group(s), which shoulf be able to see the menu as well as the submenus.
- From the selection box Preferred language establish the default language of the menu titles.
- If required choose from the selection box Category the category for the menu.
- Click the button Create menu when ready.

2.2 Add submenu
To add a new submenu you must be logged in as "Portal Manager" or "Content Manager."
- Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
- Then click Website & CMS > Menus.
- Click the menu to which you want to add a submenu.
- Click the tab Add submenu.
- Enter in the field Name the name of the submenu.
- Choose from the selection box template a template on which the menu is based.

3. Edit menu
3.1 Edit main menu

- Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
- Then click Website & CMS > Menus.
- Choose the menu you want to edit.
- Click the icon Edit.
Edit the menu as desired, q.v. 2.1 Add main menu.
- Choose in the are Menu type the desired type.
Note: Choose Standard to assign and display stories as usual. Choose Show all stories with special story type in this menu to show only stories of the desired type. In this case choose from the selection box the story type.
- Activate the option Active to activate the menu.
- Click the button Save when ready.
3.2 Edit submenu
To edit a submenu you must be logged in as "Portal Manager" or "Content Manager."
- Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
- Then click Website & CMS > Menus.
- Click the name of the main menu in which the submenu you want to edit is located.
- Click the icon Edit by the chosen submenu.
Edit the menu as desired, q.v. 2.2 Add sub menu.
- Choose in the are Menu type the desired type.
Note: Choose Standard to assign and display stories as usual. Choose Show all stories with special story type in this menu to show only stories of the desired type. In this case choose from the selection box the story type.

4. Translate menu
4.1 Translate main menu
To translate a main menu you must be logged in as "Portal Manager" or "Content Manager."
- Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
- Then click Website & CMS > Menus.
- Choose the menu you want to translate.
- Click the icon Translation.
All available translations will be listed with the following points:
- ID Is the identification number of the translation.
- Translation Is the current name of the translation.
- Language Is the language and a flag of the particular translation.
- Edit By clicking the icon the menu can be edited, by clicking the button Add menu translation a new translation can be added.
- Delete? By clicking the icon you can delete the menu.
- Now either click in the column Edit
- the icon edit, to edit the existing translation or
- the button Add menu translation, to add a new translation.
- Enter each within the field Name the translation of the menu.
- Click each with the button, to save or update the editing.

4.2 Translate submenu

- Click the name of the main menu in which the submenu you want to translate is located.
- Choose the submenu you want to translate.
- Click the icon Translation.

5. Move menu
5.1 Move main menu

- Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
- Then click Website & CMS > Menus.
- Choose the main menu you want to move.
- Click the icon Move.
- Choose a menu from the selection box in which you want to move the menu.
- Click the button Move.
All submenus and stories of the current menu will thus be moved to the chosen menu.

5.2 Move submenu
To move a submenu you must be logged in as "Portal Manager" or "Content Manager."
- Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
- Then click Website & CMS > Menus.
- Click the name of the main menu in which the submenu you want to move is located.
- Choose the submenu you want to move.
- Click the icon Move.
- Choose a menu from the selection box in which you want to move the menu.
- Click the button Move.
All stories of the current menu will thus be moved to the chosen menu.

6. Change position of menu
6.1 Change position of main menu
To change the position or the order of a main menu you must be logged in as "Portal Manager" or "Content Manager."
- Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
- Then click Website & CMS > Menus.
- Click either
- the menu item Sort main menus in the navigation on the left or
- the link "Tools & Administration / Design & Layout / Application Links / Positions / mainMenus, mainMenuRows, ..." above the main area.
You are now in the so-called Design Manager.
Advice: Various modules can be employed in MasterDesign according to their design. Every module can receive a different organization with menus and links to applications.
- In the first table in the column Name click the link main-menus.
The following list will appear:
- Position Shows the current position.
- Change position By clicking the arrows you can change the positions.
- Link type Shows the link type.
- Name Shows the name of the link.
- Description Gives a short description of the link.
- Sort the individual menu items by clicking the arrows in the column Change position.

6.2 Change position of submenu
To change the position or the order of a submenu you must be logged in as "Portal Manager" or "Content Manager."
- Click the button Portal Manager, to get to the administrative area.
- Then click Website & CMS > Menus.
- Click the name of the main menu in which the submenu you want to move is located.
- Sort the individual menu items by clicking the arrows in the column Position.

7. Delete menu
7.1 Delete main menu
To delete a main menu you must be logged in as "Portal Manager" or "Content Manager."
- Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
- Then click Website & CMS > Menus.
- Choose the main menu you want to delete.
- Click the icon Delete on the left side of the table.
- Confirm the erasing procedure by clicking the button OK.
Attention: The menu as well as all submenus will then be deleted.
You will receive a confirmation after a successful erasing procedure.

7.2 Delete submenu
To delete a submenu you must be logged in as "Portal Manager" or "Content Manager."
- Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
- Then click Website & CMS > Menus.
- Choose the submenu you want to delete.
- Click the icon Delete on the left side of the table.
- Confirm the erasing procedure by clicking the button OK.
You will receive a confirmation after a successful erasing procedure.

8. Menu preferences
Here you can set several preferences.
- Choose in the area Archive menu the menu, which should be the archive.
Note: Only the chosen main menu is becoming an archive, submenus are not concerned.
- Choose in the area Glossary menu the menu in which the glossary should be loctaed.

- Choose in the area User generated content menu the menu in which users can place there own content.
Note: All subemnus are provided for user generated content as well.
- Click the button Save when ready.
