In SEO 360° you can adjust the most important settings for your search engine marketing. Research and determine which information about your company you want to optimize. Use metadata to complete your company information. You can also outsource the search engine optimization via "SITEFORUM Managed SEO". Contacts us.
Note: To work in this section you need to have the rolse "Portal Master" or "Content Manager".

1. Manage Information - 120°

In this chapter you prepare your information for search engines.
  1. Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
  2. Then click Marketing & CRM > SEO 360°.

1.1 Checklists

The checklists give an overview over the most important settings for search engine optimization in your portal:
  • General settings and Metadata
  • Homepage "index.html" This file re-directs visitors into the dynamic area of your portal. You could also create a dynamic introduction page which contains a link to your dynamic area.
  • XML-Sitemap "sitemap.xml" Sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling. The current sitemap protocol has wide adoption and including support from Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft. For more information please visit: www.sitemaps.org.
  • Txt-file "robots.txt" This file allows you to manipulate the access level for search engines to certain URLs. More details can be found at robotstxt.org.

1.2 SEO Settings

Here you can specify advanced settings for search engine optimisation and for the export of dynamic content.
  1. In the navigation on the left below 120° Manage Information click SEO Settings.
Four tabs open up:

Main Settings
Here you can specify advanced settings for search engine optimisation and for the export from dynamic content.
The first row shows the Last cron export.
  1. In the area Last Cron Export you can view the last run of the cron.
  2. In the area Cron Export enable the option yes for an export by cron. Activate the option no for a manual export.
  3. In the area Images enable the option yes for image search.
  4. In the area Redirect Script enable the option yes for spot script-redirecting to the portal.
  5. Choose from the selection box Parent Directory the parent directory.
  6. The area Title optimization shows the current title.
  7. Enter in the field Title prefix a prefix.
  8. Enter in the field Title suffix a suffix.
  9. Enter in the field Header special code for the header, e.g. Google™ Analytics Code.
  10. Enter in the field Footer special code for the footer.
  11. Enter in the field Footer Links a link for the footer.
  12. Click the button Save when ready.
    Click the button Resets to clear the fields.
Tab XML Sitemap
Sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling. The current sitemap protocol has wide adoption and including support from Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft. For more information please visit www.sitemaps.org.
  1. The area Sitemap path shows the current main path, which you can submit at Google.
  2. The area Sitemap index file includes the files of the Sitemap index file sitemap.xml.
  3. The area Directory file includes the directories of the directory file sitemap_dirs.xml.
    You can select the certain directories by clicking them. To select several directories hold the "Strg" key.
  4. Activate in the area Rules the options which should be found as well, e.g. enable the option Document and office files for searching .pdf-files.
  5. Activate the option gzip to export your files as compressed .gz-file, not as .xml-files.
    Note: This option makes sense with big files. A .gz-file compresses only one file.
  6. Click the button Save when ready.
Tab Export Details
This section provides settings for the export of specific objects and elements from your web portal to enable search engines to find them.
  1. Choose the desired tab.
  2. Enable in the area Export refresh time teh desired interval.
  3. Enable in the area Export speed the desired items per timeframe.
  4. Choose from the selection box Export Directory the directory.
  5. Click the button Save when ready.

1.3 Metadata

In this section you manage your portal information as structured metadata, so the information is characterised thematically and can be found better. Your data should be complete with details about your company.
  1. In the navigation on the left below 120° Manage Information click Metadata.
Three tabs open up:

Tab Main Settings
  1. Enter in the field URL the URL of the website.
  2. Enter in the field Description an appropriate general description of your company.
  3. Enter in the field Keywords appropriate general keywords of your company.
  4. Enter in the field Publisher the publisher of the website.
  5. Enter in the field Creator the creator of the website.
  6. Enter in the field Time Interval the time slice in which frequency the search engine comes by.
  7. Note: The value is not obligatory for search engines.
  8. Click the button Save when ready.
Word report of current header
The word report presents the TOP 10 of the optimising words in a percentage and a real value. In the table below in the column OK you see the status of the words which can still be optimised or which miss at all, green = ok, yellow = to be optimised.
Example: Yellow point ahead the HTML-tag Description means that the keyword, which you want to optimise, is not part of the description.

Preview of current metadata
In the preview you see the head (<head> ... </head>) of the HTML sourcecode with the inscribed metadata.

Tab CMS metadata
Here you can manage the metadata for stories. This helps to explain the provided data better and makes it easier to find it. The creation of Dublincore (DC.*) metadata is possible. More information can be found at http://dublincore.org/documents/dces/.

You find two tables:
  • Status Shows the status, green = active, red = inactive.
  • Name Shows the name of the metadata.
  • Standard Value These are the inscribed keywords.
  • Edit By clicking the icon you can edit the metadata.
  • Delete By clicking the icon you can delete the metadata.
Note: There are standard metadata, which cannot be edited or deleted.
To edit metadata please do the following:
  1. Choose the metadata you want to edit.
  2. Click the name of the metadata or the icon Edit at the right of the table.
  3. Enter in the field Name the new name.
  4. Enter in the field Standard Value new or additional keywords.
  5. From the selection box Active choose, if the metadata should be active, Yes = active, No = inactive.
  6. From the selection box Mandatory Field choose if the input field is obligatory.
  7. Click the button Save when ready.
Tab Add
  1. Enter in the field Name the name.
  2. Enter in the field Standard Value the desired standard value.
  3. Click the button Save when ready.
    The new metadata are listed in the overview.

1.4 Shortcuts

Here you find a list of existing shortcuts. You have the option to edit or delete shortcuts.. A shortcut refers directly to a story, a menu or a forum and looks like this "http://www.siteforum.com/support" or "http://www.siteforum.com/cms"
  1. In the navigation on the left below 120° Manage Information click Shortcuts.
    You get to the Overview.
Overview
A table with all existing shortcuts and folders opens up.
  • Status Shows the files and folders which are locked for search engines in the file "robots.txt". 
  • Type Shows the type of the shortcut.
  • Name The first line shows the name of the story of the shortcut, the second line shows the name of the shortcut. You get to the story by clicking the name of the shortcut.
  • Date Shows the date of creation.
  • Edit By clicking the icon you can edit the shortcut.
    Note: You can edit the linked story directly in the HTML sourcecode to optimise it for search engines. You also get the word report in the editing mode to see the results of the optimisation immediately.
  • Delete By clicking the icon you can delete the shortcut.
    Note: The shortcut index.html is a standard shortcut and cannot be deleted.
Note: You can use the areas HTML code view and Simple list view for HTML documents or other optimisations, e.g. if you want to offer an overview of all shortcuts.

Here you can view the shortcuts in a HTML code view or in a Simple list view.

1.5 URLs

This area is important for the portals with speaking URLs. Here you can control your sitemap and redirect settings.
Note: please make sure your domain settings are correct: Tools & Administration > Portal Settings > Server > Domain.

Tab Sitemap
Here you can view the current sitemap of your portal. Corresponding menu paths are shown in brackets. To edit them, please just click on a menu and enter a new path.

Tab Redirects
  • 301 Redirects In this table all existing redirects are listed.
  • To add a new redirect, enter in the area New a source and a target page.
  • To delete a redirect just click on the corresponding icon on the right.
Tab Reset
You can reset either all or only selected settings. Please select a corresponding area in the drop-down box.

2. Announce & Analyze - 240°

In this section you analyse data and make your site known in search engines.
  1. Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
  2. Then click Marketing & CRM > SEO 360°.

2.1 Analyze Files

  1. In the navigation on the left below 240° Announce & Analyze click Analyze Files.
  2. Enter in the field URL: a valid Internet address which you want to check.
  3. Click the button Check.
You get the word report which regives you the TOP 10 of the optimising words in a percentage and a real value. In the table below in the column OK? you see the status of the words which can still be optimised or which miss at all, green = ok, yellow = to be optimised.

2.2 Submit Your Site

Make your website known and submit your portal domain to the major search engines.

  1. In the navigation on the left below 240° Announce & Analyze click Submit Your Site.

Create links
Create links from already indexed sites to these paths. This increases the amount of links that link to your site ("Backlinks"). It helps search engines to find your portal much easier and your portal will be known.

Choose the search engine and submit your site each time by clicking the given link.

2.3 Analyze Search Indexes

Here you can use the Advanced Search of Google™ to find out how your site is indexed

  1. In the navigation on the left below 240° Announce & Analyze click Analyze Search Indexes.
Three tabs open up:

Tab Google™.
  1. Enter in the field next to the Google logo the desired keyword.
  2. Click the button Google Search
    An external Google site opens up.
  3. Repeat this process as often as you need to.
Tab Overview of other search engines
Here is a short overview about other search engines.
  • Yahoo™: By clicking the single links you get the results of the Yahoo™ search.
  • P.R.A.S.E.™ (Page Rank Assisted Search Engine): Here you can find out the PageRank™ of your website. Further information about PageRank™.
  • URLs: Here you find some more tips about search engine optimisation. By clicking the single links an external website with further information opens up.

2.4 Ranking Checks

Here you can search in several search engines at the same time. You can also specify a reference file, that will be used to verify if the links that are in the TOP 10.
Note: Note that not all URLs will be added to the search engine index. It cannot be predicted or guaranteed if and when your site appears in the search engine indexes.
  1. In the navigation on the left below 240° Announce & Analyze click Ranking Checks.
Two tabs open up:

Tab Ranking check settings
  1. Enter in the field Your keywords comma separated the keywords which you want to search.
  2. Enter in the field Reference File-URL the reference file.
    Note: You can leave this field empty.
  3. Click the button Save when ready.

In the upper section the search engines are listed. Below you find the position of your website depending on the keyword.
  • Click the keyword or the reference file.
    In a new browser window the results of the certain search engine open up.
  • Click a given link and it opens.

3. Results - 360°

Review results and track visitors.
  1. Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
  2. Then click Marketing & CRM > SEO 360°.

3.1 Statistic

  1. In the navigation on the left below 360° Results click Statistic.
You get a summary about all visitors during the year.

3.2 Referrer & Keywords

The overview shows the origin of the visitors with deails to domains and keywords.
  1. In the navigation on the left below 360° Results click Referrer & Keywords.
  2. Choose a tab whose results you want to view.
  3. Select at Time from from the selection box Month, Day, Year the beginning of the desired time range.
  4. Select at Time to from the selection box Month, Day, Year the ending of the desired time range.
  5. Click the button set time range.
    You get the individual results.

3.3 Browser Details

Here you experience a lot about browsers as browser settings of your users.
  1. In the navigation on the left below 360° Results click Browser details.
  2. Choose a tab whose results you want to view.
  3. Select at Time from from the selection box Month, Day, Year the beginning of the desired time range.
  4. Select at Time to from the selection box Month, Day, Year the ending of the desired time range.
  5. Click the button set time range.
    You get the individual results.

3.4 Your Browser Details

In this section all relevant details of your current used browser are shown.
  • Click the button go on the right next to the field Agent string and you get a summary of your used browser environment.
  • By clicking the upcoming link you get further details, e.g. browser version, operating system, etc.
