Polls

SITEFORUM polls enable you to add and manage an unlimited amount of polls in your portal. Polls can be addressed to all users or to specific user groups.

1. Overview

  1. Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
  2. Then click Marketing & CRM > Polls.
As far as polls exist already you get to the following table:
  • Status Describes the status of the poll, green = active, red = inactive.
  • Name Shows the name.
  • Counts Shows the number of votes, how many times the poll was answered.
  • Vote By clicking the icon you can vote for the corresponding poll.
    Note: Every user can vote for a poll just once.
  • Statistic By clicking the icon you can view the statistic of the poll.
    The results will be shown in both percentage and raw number format.
  • Translate By clicking the icon you get to the translating mode, q.v. 5 Translate.
  • Edit By clicking the icon you get to the editing mode, q.v. 3. Edit.
  • Delete By clicking the icon you can delete the poll.

2. Add

  1. Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
  2. Then click Marketing & CRM > Polls.
  3. Click the tab Add.
  4. Enter in the field Name a name for the new poll.
  5. Enter in the field Question the text/question of the poll.
  6. Enter in the fields 1.-5. Choice/Answer the choices/answers the user is supposed to click.
    Note: You can create an unlimited number of choices. Click the button More Choices to add additional choices.
  7. Choose in the area Selection if only one single answer (Allow just a single answer) or several answers (Allow multiple answers) can be chosen by the user.
  8. Enable the checkbox Status to set the status as "activate".
  9. Enable the checkbox Homepage to publish the poll directly on the front page.
    Note: Only one poll can appear on the front page.
  10. Activate the checkbox Expiry Date when the poll will be closed manually. Disable the checkbox to define a specified date as an expiry date.
  11. Activate the option Results if users will be allowed to see poll results at all times.
  12. Choose in the area User Group the user group(s) which is/are allowed to participate in the poll.
  13. Choose the selection box Language the language of the poll.
  14. If required choose the selection box Category a cateogry.
  15. Click the button Save when ready.

3. Edit poll

  1. Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
  2. Then click Marketing & CRM > Polls.
  3. In the overview choose the poll you want to edit.
  4. Click the icon Edit.
  5. Do the desired changes, q.v. 2. Add.
  6. Click the button Save when ready.

4. Vote

Note: With this function as a "Portal Master" or "Polling Manager" you can preview the poll to check if it was created correctly and you can test it.
  1. Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
  2. Then click Marketing & CRM > Polls.
  3. Choose in the overview the poll you want to vote for.
  4. Click the icon Vote.
  5. Vote for the poll and go back in your browser window.

5. Translate

You can translate polls to the languages you provide in your portal.
  1. Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
  2. Then click Marketing & CRM > Polls.
  3. In the overview choose the poll you want to translate.
  4. Click the icon Translate.
  5. Choose the language in which you want to translate the poll.
  6. Click the button Add Translation.
  7. Translate all desired fields in the corresponding language.
  8. Activate the option Status to activate the translation.
  9. Click the button Save when ready.
  10. If required repeat this procedure to add further translations.
Edit Translation
  1. In the overview choose the poll whose translation you want to edit.
  2. Click the icon Translate.
  3. Choose the language you want to edit.
  4. Click the icon Edit.
  5. Do the desired changes, q.v. 5 Transalte.
  6. Click the button Save when ready.
Delete Translation
  1. In the overview choose the poll whose translation you want to delete.
  2. Click the icon Translate.
  3. Choose the language you want to delete.
  4. Click the icon Delete.
  5. Confirm the erasing procedure by clicking the button OK.

6. Export to CSV

  1. Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
  2. Then click Marketing & CRM > Polls.
  3. In the overview choose the poll, which results you want to export.
  4. Click the icon CSV.
Note: If you select Save answers under Marketing & CRM > Polls > Settings > Privacy, then user choices will also be exported to the same CSV file

7. Delete

  1. Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
  2. Then click Marketing & CRM > Polls.
  3. Choose in the overview the poll you want to delete.
  4. Click the icon Delete.
  5. Confirm the erasing procedure by clicking the button OK.

8. Settings

  1. Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
  2. Then click Marketing & CRM > Polls > Settings.
  3. Check the option Save under Privacy > Answers, if you want user choices to be stored.
Note: If this option is selected, you can export user choices to a CSV file. See Export to CSV for details.
