A "blog," short for "webblog," is a digital diary. The "blogger" writes stuff he's interested in, he experienced or what he thinks others could be interested in. The last entry is ranked first.
Warning: Tags must be created first so members can write blogs, q.v. Services > Documentation > Tools & Administration > Categories & Tags.

1. Administration

Note: Depending on access rights of the portal you may read blogs without login but not comment on them or write new ones. It can also be that you cannot read blogs until you are logged in. That's variable from portal to portal.
  1. Please log in the portal if necessary.
  2. Click the link Blogs.
    Note: Maybe the link is called differently. That depends on the portal.
You get to the overview of the different blog elements.

1.1 Overview

  • Top blog tags Shows the five best tags.
  • Most active authors Shows the five most active authors.
  • Newest Blogs Shows the five newest blogs.
  • Most viewed Blogs Shows the five most viewed blogs.
  • Most discussed Blogs Shows the five most discussed blogs.
  • Toprated Blogs Shows the five toprated blogs.
  • Blog Archive Shows archived blogs.
  • Blog Search Enables a quick search inside the blogs.
Note: Depending on access rights you can modify the names of these links as well as the display of the blog elements, q.v. Services> Documentation > Tools & Administration > Applications.
  1. Click the particular blog element to get to the blogs of that element.
  2. Click the desired blog to read it, q.v. 2. Inside a Blog.

1.2 My Blogs

Here you can view all blogs you wrote.
  • Title/Date Shows title, date and time of the blog creation.
    By clicking the title you get to the blog.
  • Views Shows the number of views of the blog.
  • Comments Shows the number of comments.
  • Rating Shows the average ratings of the blog.
  • Edit By clicking the icon you get to the editing mode, q.v. 1.4 Edit.
  • Delete By clicking the icon you can delete the blog, q.v. 1.5 Delete.

1.3 Add

  1. Enter in the field Title the title of the blog.
  2. Enter in the field Content the content of the blog. Use the editor to format the text.
  3. Enter in the field Tags either free tags by writing them into the field or use the checkboxes to activate the matching ones.
  4. Choose some category from the selection box Category.
  5. In the section Access rights you may specify the visibility settings of your blog.
  6. If you want to notify your friends on Twitter.com or Facebook.com about this blog, select the checkbox Automatic Notification.
    Then mark the correspondent targets and type the message, which will be displayed.
     
    Note: You may specify your external accounts (on twitter.com or facebook.com.
     
  7. Click the button Save when ready.

1.4 Edit

  1. Choose under the tab My Blogs the blog you want to edit.
  2. Click the icon Edit.
  3. Edit the blog as desired, q.v. 1.3 Add.
  4. Click the button Save when ready.

1.5 Delete

  1. Choose under the tab My Blogs the blog you want to delete.
  2. Click the icon Delete.
  3. Confirm the erasing procedure by clicking the button OK.

2. Inside a Blog

  • Select a blog from the overview.
    Now you can rate the blog, read and write comments and view the profile of the blog author.
Rate Blog
  1. Move the mouse over the stars. The stars become green.
  2. Click the last star, which will let you cast a ballot.
    Below the stars the message Rating was counted appears.
Read Comments
  • Click the link # Comments on the right below the blog.
    All comments are listed among each other.
Write Comments
  1. Enter in the area Add Comment your comment.
  2. Click the button Save when ready.
By clicking the link Delete you can delete your comment.

3. Templates (for Portal Masters only)

With intro templates you can control the teaser display of the blogs in the overview and with templates you control the complete display of the blogs.
  1. Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
  2. Then click Networks & Community > Blogs.
  3. In the navigation on the left, below Blogs click Templates.
  4. Choose between the tabs Blog Templates and Blog Intro Templates.

3.1 Assign

  1. In the navigation on the left, below Blogs click Templates.
  2. Choose each time for Blog Templates and Blog Intro Templates from the selection box the desired template, on which the blogs should be based.
  3. Click the button Assign.

3.2 Add

  1. Choose between the tabs Blog Templates and Blog Intro Templates.
  2. Click the tab Add.
  3. Enter in the field Code HTML or CSS code to describe the template.
  4. If required choose from the area Placeholders available placeholders.
    Click the red arrow to get the selection.
  5. If required choose from the area Special Characters some special characters.
    Click the red arrow to get the selection.
  6. Enter in the field Name a name for the template.
  7. Click the button Save when ready.
You can edit or delete templates you added.
