n SEO 360° you can adjust the most important settings for your search engine marketing. Research and determine which information about your company you want to optimize. Use metadata to complete your company information. You can also outsource the search engine optimization via "SITEFORUM Managed SEO". Contacts us.
Note: To work in this section you need to have the rolse "Portal Master" or "Content Manager".

1. 120° Basics

In this area you prepare your information for search engines.
  1. Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
  2. Then click Marketing & CRM > SEO 360°.

1.1 Checklists

The checklists give an overview over the most important settings for search engine optimization in your portal:
  • General Settings and Metadata
  • Homepage "index.html" This file re-directs visitors into the dynamic area of your portal. You could also create a dynamic introduction page which contains a link to your dynamic area.
  • XML-Sitemap "sitemap.xml" Sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling. The current sitemap protocol has wide adoption and including support from Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft. For more information please visit: www.sitemaps.org.
  • Txt-file "robots.txt" This file allows you to manipulate the access level for search engines to certain URLs. More details can be found at: www.robotstxt.org.
The subpages in the respective areas are provided with icons, which indicate to you whether there are errors or settings that need your attention (red), whether settings can be improved optionally (yellow), or whether the current settings are optimal (green).

1.2 Settings

Here you can specify advanced settings for search engine optimisation and for the export of dynamic content.
  1. In the navigation on the left click Settings.

URL und Path-Settings

Parent Folder:

The parent folder is neccessary for development- and demo portals, the default setting is inactive.
When inactive, you do not have to associate static images and files with an additional directory path. eg: "/image.jpg" instead of "/portals/portalname/image.jpg"
When active, you must link static images and files to an additional directory path. eg: "/portals/portalname/image.jpg" instead of "image.jpg"

URL Cache:
With this setting you can improve the performance of the portal.

URL Editing:
Here you can choose whether URLs can only be changed in the SEO area, or in any application (for example menus).

Spaces:
Here you can choose how spaces are displayed in URLs.

Title
  • The area Current shows the current title.
  • Enter a prefix in the field Title prefix.
  • Enter a suffix in the field Title suffix.
  • In the Portal name field, you can specify the portal name.
  • Click the Save button when ready.
    Click the Reset button to clear the fields.

1.3 Metadata

In this section you manage your portal information as structured metadata, so the information is characterised thematically and can be found better. Your data should be complete with details about your company.
  1. In the navigation on the left below 120° Basics click Metadata.
Two tabs open up:

Tab General Settings:
  1. Enter the URL of the website in the field URL.
  2. Enter an appropriate general description of your company in the field Description.
  3. Enter appropriate general keywords of your company in the field Keywords.
  4. In the Copyright box, type the publisher of your site.
  5. Enter the creator of the website in the Creator field.
  6. In the Time Frame field, enter the time interval in which the search engines should "come by".
        Note: The value is not obligatory for search engines.
  7. Click the Save button when ready.
Word report of current header
The word report presents the TOP 10 of the optimising words in a percentage and a real value. In the table below in the column OK you see the status of the words which can still be optimised or which miss at all, green = ok, yellow = to be optimized.
Example: Yellow icon in front of the HTML-tag Description means that the keyword, which you want to optimize, is not part of the description.

Preview of current metadata
In the preview you see the head (<head> ... </head>) of the HTML sourcecode with the included metadata.

CMS Metadata
Here you can manage the metadata for stories. This helps to explain the provided data better and makes it easier to find it. The creation of Dublincore (DC.*) metadata is possible. More information can be found at http://dublincore.org/documents/dces/.

You see the following table:
  • Status Shows the status, green = active, red = inactive.
  • Name Shows the name of the metadata.
  • Standard Value These are the inscribed keywords.
  • Edit By clicking the icon you can edit the metadata.
  • Delete By clicking the icon you can delete the metadata.
Note: There are standard metadata, which cannot be edited or deleted.
To edit metadata please do the following:
  1. Choose the metadata you want to edit.
  2. Click the name of the metadata or the icon Edit at the right of the table.
  3. Enter in the field Name the new name.
  4. Enter in the field Standard Value new or additional keywords.
  5. From the selection box Active choose, if the metadata should be active, Yes = active, No = inactive.
  6. From the selection box Mandatory Field choose if the input field is obligatory.
  7. Click the button Save when ready.
Button Add
  1. Enter  the name in the field Name.
  2. Enter the standard value in the field Standard Value .
  3. Click the Save button when ready.
The new metadata are listed in the overview.

1.4 URLs

Here you can view your sitemap.
Note: Please check your domain settings first: Tools & Administration> Portal Settings> Server> Domain.

Button Reset
You can reset either all or only selected settings. Please select a corresponding area in the drop-down box.

1.5 Redirects (301)

  • 301 Redirects In this table all existing redirects are listed.
  • To add a new redirect, enter in the area New a source and a target page.
  • To delete a redirect just click on the corresponding icon on the right.

1.6 Errors (404)

Here you will find an overview of the top 100 404 errors of the last 30 days - by clicking on the icon under "301 Redirect" you can create a 301 redirect for the respective error.
Under History you can see the errors of the last 30 days sorted by time.
Click the Reset button to reset the listings.

2. 240° Analysis

In this section you analyse data and make your site known in search engines.
  1. Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
  2. Then click Marketing & CRM > SEO 360°.

2.1 Files

  1. In the navigation on the left below 240° Analysis click Files.
  2. An overview with 3 tabs is opened: Homepage "index.html", XML-Sitemap "sitemap.xml" and Txt-file "robobts.txt".

Tab XML-Sitemap "sitemap.xml":

Sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling. The current sitemap protocol has wide adoption and including support from Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft. For more information please visit www.sitemaps.org.
  1. The area Sitemap path shows the current main path.
  2. The area Sitemap index file includes the files of the Sitemap index file sitemap.xml.
  3. The area Directory file includes the directories of the directory file sitemap_dirs.xml.
    You can select the certain directories by clicking them. To select several directories hold the "Strg" key.
  4. Activate in the area Rules the options which should be found as well, e.g. enable the option Document and office files for searching .pdf-files.
  5. Activate the option gzip to export your files as compressed .gz-file, not as .xml-files.
    Note: This option makes sense with big files. A .gz-file compresses only one file.
  6. Click the button Save when ready.
  7. Click Preview to preview your current sitemap.

Tab Txt-file "robobts.txt" - This file allows you to manipulate the access level for search engines to certain URLs. More details can be found at: robotstxt.org.

2.2 Page Analysis

In this area you analyze your data and advertise your website in search engines. Check single files for search terms to be optimized for search engines: Enter a valid URL, e.g. of the landing page, and you will obtain information on the word frequency and the HTML tags.

2.3 Submit your site

Here you can use the Advanced Search of Google™ to find out how your site is indexe.

  1. In the navigation on the left below 240° Analysis click Submit Your Site.

Create links
Create links from already indexed sites to these paths. This increases the amount of links that link to your site ("Backlinks"). It helps search engines to find your portal much easier and your portal will be known.

Search Engines
Choose the search engine and submit your site each time by clicking the given link.

Tab Advanced Settings
Here we would like to recommend further marketing strategies to make your Internet portal more known.
  • More marketing options: Send newsletter to your customers and interested parties. By clicking the given link you get to SITEFORUM Campaigns with which you can send newsletters, q.v. Services > Documentation > Support Marketing & CRM > Campaigns. Place banners on your and other websites with SITEFORUM Banners, q.v. Services > Documentation > Tools & Administration > Banners. Let others sell with Affiliate networks. Publish press releases regularly.
  • Google KeywordTool™: Use the Google KeywordTool™ to learn how popular your keywords are to users. Click the link https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal.
  • Google AdWords™: Advertise with Google AdWords™. More information can be found at https://adwords.google.com.

2.4 Analyze Search Indexes

Here you can use the Advanced Search of Google™ to find out how your site is indexed

  1. In the navigation on the left below 240° Analysis click Analyze Search Indexes.

  1. Enter a keyword in the field next to the Google logo.
  2. Click the button Google Search
    An external Google site opens up.
  3. Repeat this process as often as you need to.

3. 360° Results

In this area, you can look at the results and evaluate your visitors.
  1. Click the button Portal Manager to get to the administrative area.
  2. Then click Marketing & CRM > SEO 360°.

3.1 Visitors

  1. In the navigation on the left below 360° Results click Visitors.
Here you can view an annual overview of the page views with more information. For further information, see Services > Documentation > Tools & Administration > Statistic | Visitors.

3.2 Referer & Keywords

The overview shows the origin of the visitors with deails on domains and keywords.
  1. In the navigation on the left below 360° Results click Referrer & Keywords.
  2. Choose a tab whose results you want to view.
  3. Select at Time from from the selection box Month, Day, Year the beginning of the desired time range.
  4. Select at Time to from the selection box Month, Day, Year the ending of the desired time range.
  5. Click the button set time range.
    You get the individual results.

3.3 Browser details

Here you can view details on the browser settings of your visitors.
  1. In the navigation on the left below 360° Results click Browser details.
  2. Choose a tab whose results you want to view.
  3. Select at Time from from the selection box Month, Day, Year the beginning of the desired time range.
  4. Select at Time to from the selection box Month, Day, Year the ending of the desired time range.
  5. Click the button set time range.
    You get the individual results.

3.4 Your Browser details

In this section all relevant details of your currently used browser are shown.
  • Click the button go on the right next to the field User Agent String and you get a summary of your used browser environment.
  • By clicking the upcoming link you get further details, e.g. browser version, operating system, etc.
